Testosterone is a sex hormone and anabolic steroid in males, it plays a key role in the development of the male reproductive tissues. It also promotes increased muscle and bone mass and controls libido and production of red blood cells and sperm.

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is produced in the pituitary gland and plays an important role in the production of sperm.

Luteinising Hormone (LH) is produced by the pituitary gland and plays and stimulates the testes to produce sperm. It is also related to muscle mass and body hair.

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), it is a protein made mostly in the liver. It helps to regulate the amount of sex hormones that are actively working in the body.

Prolactin is also produced in the pituitary gland, normal levels are necessary for libido and ability erectile function.

Testosterone / SHBG ratio measures the ratio of testosterone and SHBG levels in your blood.

Prostate Specific Antigen A purpose of the PSA test can be to screen for Prostate Cancer. Men may be asymptomatic or symptomatic for prostate cancer as this tests helps in the necessity for a biopsy of the prostate and also in order to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.

A high total PSA level may also mean there is an enlarged prostate gland. The most common benign prostate conditions that cause an elevation in PSA level are prostatitis  and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
